Tuy nhiên cũng có những lúc nhạc sĩ cảm thấy yếu lòng, bị mê hoặc bởi vẻ đẹp quyến rũ của một người phụ nữ đã có gia đình. Dù chưa phải là một tình yêu sâu đậm, nhưng vì đã trải qua trống vắng tình yêu một thời gian dài, nên có một hôm ông cảm thấy muốn cùng người phụ nữ đó chia sẻ cuộc đời, muốn cưới làm vợ. Ngay sau khi ngỏ lời cầu hôn, ông đã tự cảm thấy ngỡ ngàng với chính mình, và người phụ nữ kia cũng rất ngạc nhiên, nhưng rồi chỉ im lặng…
Nhạc sĩ Vũ Thành An kể lại trong hồi ký:
“Tuy lúc ấy chúng ta chỉ coi như như bạn, nhưng lắm lúc anh không khỏi bị mê hoặc vì nét quyến rũ của em, nhất là đôi môi nũng nịu lúc nào cũng như muốn khóc. Một lần anh đánh bạo muốn hôn lên đôi môi đó, nhưng em đã nhẹ nhàng lảng tránh. Em càng lánh xa anh lại càng bị em cuốn hút, và có lần anh đã đánh bạo hỏi cưới em làm vợ. Em không từ chối và cũng không nhận lời, chỉ im lặng. Và chúng ta không bao giờ nhắc lại chuyện đó nữa…”
